Our Mission:

This website and the corresponding brochure are built to help the people of North Carolina identify and learn about the venomous snakes in their area. You can find in-depth information for venomous and non-venomous snakes on the important information page. The other pages help to break down each individual snake and explain where you might find them, what to do if bitten, and emergency information.

If you came to this page with a medical emergency, please contact the North Carolina Poison Control Center at:

1-800-222-1222

If they do not answer, please contact 911. Although pain may not seem severe, it is important to be seen by a health professional any time you are bitten by an animal. If you can, have a family member or friend drive you to where you can receive treatment.
